Conditions We Rehabilitate

Each condition has its own guide written and medically reviewed by our team. Click through for what recovery involves and when to come to us.

We also rehabilitate people with multiple sclerosis, encephalitis, cerebral palsy, vestibular disorders and neuropathy. If a condition is not listed, call us; a free consultation will tell you whether we are the right place.

Why a Rehabilitation Hospital, Not Just Physiotherapy

After a neurological illness or injury, the medical problems do not stop when therapy starts: blood pressure and sugar swings, chest infections, swallowing risk, pressure sores, blood clots and seizures are all common in the first weeks. A rehabilitation hospital manages these alongside daily therapy. At SENSE Health that means a 24/7 emergency response team of on-site doctors trained in emergency management with ICU experience, backed by Cloudphysician's intensivists through remote tele-ICU, nursing and caregivers round the clock, tube and catheter care, and Smart ICU monitoring, oxygen, ICU/HDU and ventilator support when clinically needed.

Therapy itself is multidisciplinary. Physiotherapists work on sitting, standing and walking; occupational therapists on the hand and daily activities; speech and swallow therapists, who work in Kannada, on communication and safe eating; dietitians on nutrition. Robotic gait training, electrotherapy, HIEMT, rTMS and HBOT are used as adjuncts where the evidence and your doctor support them. Our guide to choosing a neuro rehabilitation hospital lists the questions worth asking any centre, including ours.

What an Inpatient Stay Includes

Before admission, we go through a written package sheet with you that lists what is included, what is charged separately and the payment terms. You sign it only once it has been explained. Inpatient packages are available in twin-sharing or single rooms; our team recommends one based on the condition, how much help the person needs and their goals.

Included in both packages

  • Bed, attender stay and patient meals (diet plan included)
  • Duty doctor consultation, 24/7 nursing and 24/7 caregivers
  • Respiratory therapy (RT care), PEG-tube and catheter care
  • Daily physiotherapy (one session a day in Essential, two in Advanced)
  • Gait training: manual, parallel bars, tilt table and body-weight-support (unweighing) system
  • Electrotherapy: TENS, NMES, IFT and therapeutic ultrasound
  • Strength training, manual therapy and chest physiotherapy
  • Robotic glove and advanced hand therapy; red and infrared light therapy

Advanced package adds

Charged separately, when clinically needed

  • Speech and swallow therapy (per session)
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and rTMS (per session)
  • ICU/HDU care, ICU doctors, ventilator and oxygen support, cardiac monitor, infusion and DVT pumps
  • Medicines, consumables, laboratory tests and imaging
  • Specialist consultations and attender meals

Every separately charged item is listed on the sheet you sign before admission, so it is never a surprise at discharge. An advance payment and a refundable security deposit apply at admission. Our admissions team verifies insurance coverage and helps with pre-authorisation. For how to compare any centre's quote, read our guide to rehabilitation costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions does SENSE Health treat?

Stroke and paralysis, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, Guillain-Barré syndrome, multiple sclerosis, post-ICU weakness, dementia and memory problems, balance and fall disorders, and recovery after neurosurgery or major surgery. A free consultation confirms whether inpatient, OPD or home-based rehabilitation is the right fit.

What is the difference between a neuro rehabilitation hospital and a physiotherapy clinic?

A rehabilitation hospital admits patients and provides medical cover alongside therapy: 24/7 doctors, nursing, tube and catheter care, monitoring, and access to ICU/HDU support when needed. A clinic provides outpatient sessions only. People who are medically fragile, cannot transfer safely, are tube-fed or need several therapies a day usually need the hospital setting first.

Can a patient come to SENSE Health directly from an ICU?

Yes, when the treating team agrees the person is stable enough. We provide step-down care with 24/7 doctors and an emergency response team trained by Cloudphysician, Smart ICU monitoring, oxygen and ventilator support when clinically needed, and tube and catheter care. Call us while the person is still in the ICU so the transfer can be planned.

How long does neuro rehabilitation take?

It depends on the condition and severity: weeks for some post-surgical and post-ICU recoveries, months for stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and Guillain-Barré syndrome, and ongoing programmes for progressive conditions such as Parkinson's. Goals and the expected length of stay are agreed with the family at assessment and reviewed during the stay.

What will the stay cost?

Costs depend on the room type, the package and the length of stay, so we do not publish a price list. Before admission you receive a written package sheet listing what is included and what is charged separately, and you sign it once it has been explained. Our admissions team verifies insurance and helps with pre-authorisation.

Is home neuro rehabilitation available in Bengaluru?

Yes. SENSE Health provides home physiotherapy, nursing and rehabilitation support across Bengaluru, and many families continue at home after an inpatient stay. For people with Parkinson's, dementia or fall risk, home visits can also look at safety in the home.
