These are patients and families from SENSE Health, a stroke and neuro rehabilitation hospital in Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore, sharing their own recovery: after stroke and paralysis, with physiotherapy for pain, and with the support of family.
Every recovery is different. Results depend on the condition, how severe it is and how early rehabilitation starts. Our team will explain what is realistic for your family member after an assessment.
Bhagyamma’s husband: from tube feeding to eating again
Bhagyamma and her husband came to Bengaluru from Gundlupete. A farmer, he had a stroke while working in his fields and afterwards was fed through a tube and needed help with everything. One month into rehabilitation at SENSE Health, the feeding tube is out and he eats by mouth again, lifts his left hand to drink, and can sit up. “They look after him just like a child… The hospital feels like home.” — Bhagyamma
An emotional milestone after 25 days of neuro-rehabilitation
This patient came to SENSE Health recovering from a stroke that affected his movement. The video captures him after 25 days of neuro-rehabilitation, overcome with emotion at what he is able to do again.
He arrived on a stretcher, when even basic movement was a challenge. Through daily rehabilitation and therapy he is back on his feet and taking steps towards independence.
Six months ago, while he was living in Germany, he had a brain haemorrhage. Bringing him home to India was hard for the family, and our doctors helped them every step of the way. Back in Bengaluru, he is in intensive rehabilitation at SENSE Health: robotic gait training, physiotherapy, and arm and hand therapy, with his mother and brother beside him. “Earlier he didn’t have that hope. Now that he has started moving, he has hope in his life again.” “He’s in a good phase of recovery now, and we are happy.” — his brother
The first two times, I came out thinking, ‘I won’t do it anymore.’ But now everything is going very well, and I have completed all five sessions.

Paralysis & HBOT
“I have completed all five sessions”
Where he comes from, he says, almost every village has 10 to 20 people living with paralysis for the rest of their lives. His son made sure he didn’t become one of them, and brought him to SENSE Health. His rehabilitation included hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), along with therapy and close care from our team. “The doctors, sisters and everyone keep a close watch on us… I never thought I would be able to live like this.”
